This could have been an email...

Friends, consider this your first “This could have been an email” quarterly blast from yours truly.

There are so many little details that go into living an energetically balanced life. As I’m sure many of you know, it’s a lot more nuanced than daily checklists and affirmation reciting. It’s the coming up with new traditions and rituals that govern your life, while having the discipline to persist with these practice’s; that is where the real work of managing your energy exists.

An Overview of Quarter 1:

While it may just be a current viral trend, looking at your life from a quarterly perspective is a valid approach to supporting your energetic life. This means looking at the year and what you hope to achieve or how you hope to spend your time, within the span of a three month period. Coincidently, and I say that with an abundance of sarcasm, these three month chunks also directly correlate to the four seasons, hence the whole “quarterly” part. While I would like to go on a super tangent about how this also highlights just how much numbers rule our reality, I’ll stick to explaining why this quarterly model can support your spiritual life.

Currently, we are in the winter quarter of the year and depending on where you are in the world, the timing of this season may vary. The natural spiritual rhythm of winter is governed by internal healing or an inward focus. This comes in the process and practice of decay, rest, and healing. Too often, our mental and societal programming, urges us to approach this first part of the year with new vigor for recently established resolutions of change for our lives. This misguided approach to energy typically comes right up against the natural cycle we are unconsciously working against.

This season, utilize these first few months by leaning into the natural process of winter by shifting your approach with a couple of the following tools outlined below. If you have managed to implement and stick to new changes, these tips can still help you manage your energy more efficiently while helping you stay connected to self.

Decay

Relationships- be conservative about who you spend your time with. Let’s say for instance, certain relationships after the holiday season have fizzled or changed. Allow it. Try not to push against the natural ebs and flows of your spiritual family i.e. the people you have chosen to interact with in this life.
Sometimes fear of loss can compel us to force or push for interactions that may not be necessary or personally beneficial at this time. Keep in mind, that the distancing of many of our relationships have little to do with us, and far more to do with everyone’s individual energetic path. Instead, focus on how you wish to interact with others in the world going forward and allow the things that are no longer serving your highest wellbeing to fall away.

Rest

Life- embrace a slower pace. Use this time to unravel any limiting beliefs you might be harboring around the culture of rest. Unlearning the rat-race mentality many of us have been indoctrinated into is a forever practice. Spend time resting and surveying how it makes you feel to do less or even nothing at all. If feelings of anxiety emerge, consider making it a goal to address that in the healthiest way you can find.
My go-to for analyzing my anxiety is to journal my thoughts. Whether I’m using a note on my phone or, My Feminine Journal, to keep track of my changes, journaling has legitimately been a stress relief routine throughout my entire life. It is even the energy I tapped into to engage all of you in this blog post.

Healing

Love- let’s face it, we all start thinking about romance when the weather breaks. In part, it is our natural inclination for warmth and our mental conditioning around holiday’s like Valentine’s Day. However, spiritually, seeking love is another big part of healing. Different elements of self-love is on the other side of our fears, painful experiences, and pestering worries.
With decay comes release. Use Q1 to release any emotional restrictions around your heart space or blocks around love that may live in your subconscious. One of the most challenging parts about a feminine journey is mastering the ability to keep your heart softened and open even in the face of disappointment. It’s during this season where being gentle with yourself is highly recommended. Release expectations around love holidays or days of solitude. Know that even with just self, there can still be true love.
